I've been working with Swansea City since they approached Other Media to develop their initial native iOS and Android Apps in time for the 2017-18 season, back when they were in the Premier League, the top flight of international football.
For fans and the club, it was only right that the supporters of Wales' leading sports club had access to a digital platform fitting of their status as they exited a cookie cutter templated digital offering from their existing provider.
We designed and architected a solution for a mobile app, in time for the kick off of the 2017-18 season, we crafted an intuitive interface that was bespoke to each OS and provided the best possible user experience for each and every user dependant on their affiliation with the club. Feature rich, the apps boasted a low latency match centre, squad info, news and video, plus the UK's first in app ticketing solution.
Since this initial successful launch, we have had the opportunity to work on a number of products and projects for the club around a number of key areas to help generate revenues and deepen fan engagement as well as a revised design and theming for the app to take them into the start of the 23/24 season.
This design leant into a simpler, aesthetic, with a focus on stats and subtle nods to the overarching brand aesthetic. This new design also utilises a number of key native features such as widgets and live activities on iOS with the addition of dark mode which also features on android.
As creative director on the project I was able to drive the visual look and feel of the product, collaborating with senior brand decision makers at the club, meshing visual cues from across the brand and enhancing the existing brand guidelines with application specific recommendations that covered bespoke iconography and loading indicators, tactile interactions and collapsable headers.
